Monogram: MHG

The starting point for this three-letter monogram was the thought that it would include a frame.

We chose one of the designs from Monogram Flourishes Set 3-Year:1941. It is a two color "swoosh" design with a small open section and a candlewick dot as an accent. The design is a single bracket. We made 4 copies in our embroidery software program and arranged them with the points at the ends not quite touching.

Now that a frame had been constructed, the next step was to choose a Monogram Set that would rest comfortably inside the frame - something not to angular or visually complicated. We chose letters from our Oval 1 XL Monogram Set. The initials are G (last initial) larger in the center, flanked by the letters M and H on either side.

The three-letter arrangement needed a little tweaking. By spreading the placement of the three initials out a bit we got an oval shape that was compatible within the open area inside the frame, and by reducing the size a bit the initials fit perfectly.

This larger monogram would be appropriate for a shower curtain, pillow sham or on towels.

The overall size is 7 3/4" (197mm) tall by 7 3/4" (197mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
