Monogram Combinations

Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.

Monogram Styles Used:

Monogram: D

The starting thought for this single initial monogram - letter D - was demonstrating the flexibility in our styles that comes from taking unwanted parts away. Also, we've been thinking about unconventional monogram designs that aren't trying to be symmetrical.

We started with the letter D from the Princess Monogram Set 4, taking away the first two colors - the flower and the stems, leaving just a simple satin stitch D. Next, to add something interesting - we chose Design 1 from Monogram Flourishes 4. Originally thought of as an embellishment that would go below a multiple letter monogram, in this case the design was rotated 90 degrees to the left, and positioned to the left of the letter so that the leaves/stems complete a graceful circuit around the letter on the right. Although this design would be successful with whatever letter is used, it's an added bonus that Design 1 from Monogram Flourishes 4 was created from combined copies of the letter D from Art Deco Monogram Set 13.

The overall size is 7 1/4" (184mm) tall by 5 1/2" (140mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
