Monogram Combinations

Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.

Monogram Styles Used:

Monogram: D

Starting with the letter D from the Arts and Crafts Monogram Set 12 we decided to go with lots of dots.

First, we copied the line of four satin stitch dots that run down the left side of the letter in gradually increasing sizes. We rotated the copy 180 degrees, then moved it to the right side of the letter.

From Monogram Flourishes Set 2 we chose the design "Year:1949" to create a border. This design has a left and a right version. Combining the two together makes an arch of graduated dots above and a stylized "branch" below - a nice compliment to the dots-embellished letter.

The overall size is 1 3/4" (121mm) tall by 6 7/8" (174mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
