Monogram Combinations

Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.

Monogram Styles Used:

Monogram: HNW

This combination is for a small pillow. The center larger initial is the letter W from the Triangle 4 XL Monogram Set. The center letters in this set are curvy in shape, so it seemed interesting as a contrast to add flanking letters that are angular.

Adding the flanking letters H and N from the Diamond 4 XL Monogram Set produced the desired result - a three-letter monogram that is balanced and unusual. A little tweaking of the sizes of the three letters in our embroidery software program made something that is basically a diamond shape.

To give the whole design some extra visual punch we looked to our Monogram Flourishes 2 set. The design called "Year: 1949" had possibilities. This design has a left and a right version. In each of these there is a top and a bottom. The top section has an arch of candlewick stitches in graduating sizes. We deleted the bottom section, then made a mirrored copy of the remaining top section, and rotated each to a flanking position in the bottom portion of the three letter monogram layout. The "dots" provide just a bit more to the overall monogram.

The overall size is 5 5/8" (144mm) tall by 6 1/4" (159mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
