Monogram Combinations

Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.

Monogram Styles Used:

Monogram: KJF

We wanted to create a somewhat modern three-letter monogram using the initials KJF, with the F - last initial - in the middle. We also wanted the monogram to be graphically contained. We started with letters from our Oval Monogram Set 3, then added the decorative oval border from that style.

To provide the containment, and to make the monogram a bit more formal, we surrounded the combination with one of our Monogram Flourishes 1 - one digitized from 1931 artwork - and one with candlewick stitch accents, which echo the candlewick stitches in the Oval 3 border. The flourish is vertical in its original form, so we rotated it 90 degrees. After placing it around the monogram we noticed that the two ovals weren't exactly the same shape, so we isolated the three-letter combination with border in our embroidery software program and changed it's shape slightly - a little bit less in the vertical dimension, a little bit more in the horizontal direction. This adjustment was made visually until the two parts had the same oval shape

The overall size is 3 3/8" (86 mm) tall by 4 3/4" (120 mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
