It has been 100 years since the publication of four fascinating articles in Good Housekeeping magazine. Written by Frederic Flagler Helmer, they are a must-read for anyone interested in monograms and monogram design.
Thanks to the Mann Library at Cornell University, these and other periodicals have been digitized as facsimiles, part of the HEARTH project, which provides a research resource for scholars interested in Home Economics.
We have known about these articles for some time, but have been unable to discover much about Mr. Helmer himself. His design sense is inspiring, and flawlessly creative.
