Directions for Robe Project / May2001

This project utilizes letters from our Arts and Crafts Monogram Set 1.

Step 1. Print the illustrations and instructions.

These are .pdf files, and require Adobe Acrobat Reader software in order to view and print.
To insure printing in exact size, be sure that FIT TO PAGE (see Properties under the Print Menu) is not selected.

Step 2. . Review instructions and materials required (materials list at the end of these instructions).

Step 3. Merge Designs

Choose the combination of letters that you want to work with by merging them within your software. When you are happy with the results save the combination under a new filename of your choice.

Step 4. . Embroider the monogram.

The placement of the monogram in our illustration is on the left side of the robe, slightly higher than normal.

We used medium weight tear-away stabilizer in order to provide a clean backside to the embroidery after it is sewn.

(HINT: One of the problems with terrycloth is that after repeated washings the loops can work their way through the satin stitches. Water-soluble stabilizer will hold down the loops at first, but will wash away when laundered. We used an old commercial embroidery trick - dry cleaner bags. They are readily available, and donít break down when washed. The bag is cut away on the edges by the needle penetrations from the embroidery.)

Congratulations! Your project is complete.
